I’m hiring a hands-on Mailchimp operator to build an email program that captures new email addresses, generates new revenue, and drives repeat purchases for my WooCommerce store (18+ audience). I have an existing list of ~11,000 US customer emails (already scrubbed), but many customers may have forgotten the brand—so deliverability-safe re-engagement and smart segmentation are crucial. I already run abandoned cart via AutomateWoo (email-triggered at checkout), and I need someone who can improve recovery by capturing email earlier onsite, launching core flows (welcome, post-purchase, winback), and running revenue-focused campaigns with clear reporting and testing.
My company is a WooCommerce ecommerce store (18+ audience). Please do not apply if your main skill is “newsletter design.” I’m hiring an operator who can own automation, segmentation, deliverability, and revenue reporting.
GOAL
Increase revenue by:
• capturing more email subscribers from onsite traffic,
• keeping recent customers engaged (purchased in the last 12 months),
• driving repeat purchases via automations + campaigns + segmentation.
CONTEXT (PLEASE READ):
• Email list: ~11,000 US customer emails, already scrubbed for dead/abandoned inboxes. Main challenge is re-engaging customers who may have forgotten the brand. There are more stale email addresses in the database that are international and I’m sure some are spam as WordPress doesn’t filter those out when they’re input (and I also don’t know what processes and practices (or the lack thereof) the previous owners of the company had in place prior to my taking over. My primary focus is on the aforementioned ~11,000 US customer emails that have been accumulated from 2012 through October 2025 and the emails captured from orders occurring from November 2025 to present.
• I’m not interested in “growth” that comes from losing money on shipping or reckless discounting. I’m open to incentives, but I prefer repeat purchase growth driven by relevance, timing, bundles, and smart offers.
• Majority of customers are in the U.S. (some international orders, but U.S. is primary).
CURRENT STACK:
• Mailchimp (ESP)
• Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin (installed)
• AutomateWoo (abandoned cart workflow active; triggers when email is captured at checkout)
• No pop-up / onsite capture tool deployed yet
WHAT YOU'LL OWN (SCOPE):
PHASE 1 — Audit + plan (Week 1)
• Audit Mailchimp + WooCommerce integration (data mapping, purchase events, catalog sync, customer tagging)
• Deliverability + list health check (engagement, spam complaint risk, suppression/list hygiene plan)
• Deliver a 30-day execution plan: flows, segments, campaign cadence, tests, KPIs
PHASE 2 — Build revenue foundation (Weeks 2–4)
Automations (build + verify firing)
• Welcome series (new subscribers)
• Abandoned cart optimization: We currently run abandoned cart via AutomateWoo and it requires an email captured at checkout to trigger. Audit performance, improve recovery, and implement earlier email capture so more carts qualify. If you recommend switching abandoned cart to Mailchimp or keeping AutomateWoo, explain why.
• Post-purchase: education + cross-sell + review request + second purchase push
• Winback/re-engagement (60/90/120-day no purchase windows)
Segmentation (repeat purchase focused)
• Recent buyers (30 days/60 days/90 days/365 days)
• VIP/high-AOV
• Engagement tiers (active vs cooling vs cold)
• Product/category interest (where feasible)
Onsite email capture
• Recommend and deploy a pop-up/form approach (Mailchimp forms or a lightweight tool)
• Incentive strategy that protects margin (including non-discount options where appropriate)
• A/B test at least 2 capture variants
Ongoing (monthly)
• Manage 1–2 revenue campaigns/week (or recommend cadence)
• A/B testing roadmap (subject lines, offers, creative structure, send-time)
• Weekly reporting summary: revenue, attributed orders, conversion rate, list growth, deliverability metrics, next actions
WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:
• Proven ecommerce email performance (flows + segmentation + revenue reporting)
• Strong Mailchimp experience specifically
• Deliverability discipline (especially for re-engagement/warming)
• Can write persuasive copy with good taste + compliance awareness (18+ category)
• Experience in sensitive categories (18+, supplements, etc.) is a plus
DELIVERABLES YOU'LL PRODUCE:
• Audit findings + prioritized plan
• Live flows + documented segmentation structure in Mailchimp
• Onsite capture implemented + tested
• Weekly reporting + optimization backlog
TO APPLY, ANSWER THESE (REQUIRED)
1. What’s your exact re-engagement approach for a scrubbed but “forgotten” 11K customer list (segmentation + cadence)?
2. What complaint/unsub thresholds do you watch, and what actions do you take if they spike?
3. List the first 4 automations you’ll build (or optimize) for a WooCommerce store like mine and what each accomplishes.
4. How will you verify purchase attribution + flow triggering are working correctly?
5. Abandoned cart requires an email to trigger. What’s your plan to capture email earlier in the session and increase the % of recoverable carts?
6. Share 1–2 examples of results you’ve driven (revenue attributed, repeat purchase lift, list growth, deliverability improvements).
7. What pop-up / onsite capture approach would you recommend here, and why?
Budget: Open to fixed price for Phase 1–2, then retainer for ongoing. Please propose your recommended structure and pricing.
