Build a Modern News Aggregation Website (WordPress + RSS Feeds) ----- About the Project This website is for a digital news publication built on a single premise: the news is delivered entirely by AI, not human journalists. No editorial bias, no agenda — just clean, neutral, factual reporting across 8 categories. Think of it as a new-age newspaper for the information age — the same commitment to covering the world, but with AI as the publisher. On social media, each category will have its own AI avatar presenter delivering news in short-form video. Category colours, typography, and layout choices may carry across into video templates down the line. The design should feel modern and authoritative — Publications like BBC News or Al Jazeera online are a good credibility benchmark, but with a cleaner, more contemporary aesthetic. Visually striking. Making it look the go to news website of the future. ----- Job Description I’m looking for an experienced WordPress developer to build a clean, modern news aggregation website based on the concept above. This is a straightforward build — no custom coding required — but it needs to look sharp and professional, and the RSS feed automation needs to work reliably without ongoing maintenance. ----- What I Need Built **1. Website Design** - Modern, editorial news site aesthetic — clean, bold typography, grid-based layout - Dark or neutral colour palette with a sharp accent colour - Homepage showing latest stories across all categories - Mobile responsive - Fast load times **2. Category Pages (x8)** - World - Politics - Business & Economy - Technology - Science & Health - Culture & Society - Sport - Conflict & Security Each category needs its own dedicated page pulling relevant RSS feeds. **3. RSS Feed Integration + AI Summarisation** - Connect RSS feeds from major reputable news sources (BBC, Reuters, Al Jazeera, AP News, etc.) into the relevant category pages - Content should auto-update without manual input — I should not need to touch it once set up - Each article should be processed through an AI summarisation layer (e.g. OpenAI API via a plugin like AI Power or similar) that rewrites the content in a consistent, neutral, factual tone before it displays on the site — the goal is that articles read in a unified voice, not as reposts from the original source - Each article should display: headline, source, 3 key takeaways or a short AI-generated summary, publication date, and link to original article - Please advise on the best plugin/tool combination to achieve this reliably and cost-effectively **4. Branding** - I will provide the logo - Apply brand colours and typography consistently across the site - About page designed (I will provide copy) **5. Handover** - Full walkthrough of how to manage the site - Login credentials and documentation - Plugins should be on free or low-cost tiers where possible ----- What I’m NOT Looking For - Custom development or complex coding - E-commerce or membership functionality - Anything that requires ongoing developer maintenance to keep running ----- Ideal Freelancer - Strong WordPress experience - Has built news or magazine sites before (please share examples) - Familiar with RSS aggregation plugins - Good eye for design or willing to work from a reference site I provide - Clear communicator — I want to know what you’re building before you build it ----- Budget Fixed price. Please quote for the full scope above. Expecting responses in the **$200–$500** range given the AI summarisation requirement — if your quote is higher, please explain why. ----- To Apply Please answer the following in your proposal: 1. Have you built a news aggregation site before? Share an example. 1. Which RSS plugin would you recommend and why? 1. What platform/theme would you use and why? 1. What’s your estimated timeline? *Generic proposals will be ignored. Show me you’ve read the brief.*
