OVERVIEW Sumo Scheduler is seeking a Senior Jira Administrator to modernize and scale our organization’s product lifecycle. The core mission is to eliminate manual overhead by transitioning from "spreadsheet-driven" management to a fully automated, Jira-native ecosystem. Strategic Objectives Infrastructure Design: Build a scalable Jira and Confluence architecture that supports organizational growth without adding administrative bloat. End-to-End Integration: Seamlessly connect the entire product funnel—from Initial Intake and R&D through Development and final Release. Process Automation: Implement automation-driven workflows to handle handoffs, status updates, and Release/Reporting tasks, reducing human error and manual effort. Operational Improvements Complexity Reduction: Declutter Jira boards to improve user experience and focus on high-priority work. Native Planning: Migrate Roadmapping and Capacity Planning out of static spreadsheets and into Jira-native tools (like Advanced Roadmaps) for real-time visibility into resource bandwidth RESPONSIBILITIES Jira Architecture Design Project & Space Structure Workflow Optimization Automation Requirements Intake Automations Cross-Project Linking Release Automation Sprint & Kanban Logic Board Optimization Audit all boards Propose simplification Ensure no workflow conflicts Advanced Roadmaps & Capacity Planning Implement Advanced Roadmaps (or equivalent) Configure team capacity, velocity-based forecasting and other Provide training for usage Build roadmap views for leaders and teams Confluence Integration Standardize requirements templates Auto-create linked pages Enforce documentation structure Ensure traceability between Jira issues and Confluence pages Build release notes templates Create product documentation structure Reporting & Dashboards Create executive-level dashboards Governance & Permissions Role-based permission structure Clean access logic across spaces Migration Strategy Audit current system Identify redundant projects WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR Candidate must have: 5+ years Jira administration Deep Jira Automation experience Advanced Roadmaps expertise Workflow design expertise Confluence automation experience Multi-project scaling experience Experience with product organizations Strong process design capability (not just configuration) NICE TO HAVE Experience with dual-product unification Experience eliminating spreadsheet planning Experience designing intake automation Experience with cross-team Kanban scaling
