We're looking for a researcher to conduct market research on small business owners in Dhaka, Bangladesh. You will physically visit local bazaars, markets, and shops, have short conversations with owners, and record them on your phone. This is NOT sales. You are not selling anything. You're having conversations and recording them. ———————————————— WHAT WE'RE RESEARCHING - How small shop owners think about their business and money - What additional services they offer (mobile top-ups, bKash, etc.) - How they make decisions about adding new income streams ———————————————— IDEAL FREELANCER - Based in Dhaka (Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi, Uttara, or surrounding areas) - Fluent in Bengali and English — interviews will be conducted in Bengali; questions will be provided - Comfortable approaching strangers and having conversations - Has a smartphone with good audio recording - Reliable and detail-oriented ———————————————— TASKS & DELIVERABLES Before Starting: - Complete our short onboarding form - Earn a certificate as a Market Researcher in our app - Confirm your city/area and types of markets you'll visit - Do 1 test interview and submit for feedback before continuing For Each Interview: - Visit a local bazaar, market, or commercial area. Screen for a mix — some shops that do mobile top-ups or bKash, some that don't — so we get a balanced sample. - Approach a shop owner (grocery, general store, electronics, clothing, pharmacy, etc.) - Ask for permission to record: "I'm doing research on local businesses — can I ask you a few questions and record for my notes?" - Conduct the interview using the question guide in our app - Take a photo of the shop front (proof of location) in our app Submit Per Interview (via our app): - Audio recording and shop photo - Google Maps pin or address of the shop - Shop type (grocery, mobile shop, pharmacy, etc.) - We may follow up with questions about translations or meanings ———————————————— QUALITY REQUIREMENTS - Must be real shops (we verify locations) - Shop owner must give verbal consent on the recording - Audio must be clear enough to understand - Must interview the owner or decision-maker, not an employee ⚠️ We will reject: fake or staged interviews, interviews with non-decision-makers, and recordings with poor audio. ———————————————— QUESTIONS TO ANSWER IN YOUR PROPOSAL 1.
