## Technical Screener – Azure/Cloud SME We are seeking an experienced **Azure/Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME)** to serve as a Technical Screener, evaluating candidates’ technical proficiency across Azure, AWS, and GCP. The ideal candidate will combine deep platform expertise with hands-on teaching, mentoring, and project deployment experience to identify top talent capable of delivering real-world cloud solutions. ### Key Responsibilities - Conduct technical interviews and assessments to evaluate candidates’ depth in cloud platforms (Azure primary, AWS/GCP secondary). - Provide detailed evaluations of candidates’ ability to train and mentor junior engineers in Azure architecture, deployment, and best practices. - Assess hands-on skills in scripting, automation, and full-stack project deployment. - Deliver clear, actionable feedback on each candidate’s technical readiness, teaching aptitude, and 10+ years of relevant project experience. ### Required Qualifications #### **Azure Expertise** - Advanced proficiency in **Azure core services**: Compute (VMs, AKS, App Services), Storage (Blob, Disk, Cosmos DB), Networking (VNet, Load Balancers, VPN Gateway), and Identity (Entra ID, RBAC). - Hands-on experience with **Azure architecture patterns**: Well-Architected Framework, landing zones, governance via Policy/Blueprints, and cost optimization. - Proven ability to design and deploy **enterprise-scale Azure solutions** with high availability, disaster recovery, and security baked in from day one. #### **DevOps Proficiency** - **Infrastructure as Code (IaC)**: Author and review ARM templates, Bicep, and Terraform for Azure deployments. - **CI/CD mastery**: Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins with multi-stage approvals, artifact management, and environment promotion. - **Monitoring & observability**: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights; synthetic monitoring and alerting setup. - Experience with container orchestration (**AKS**) and serverless (**Azure Functions**, **Logic Apps**). #### **DevSecOps Skills** - **Security scanning**: Integration of **Azure Defender**, **Microsoft Defender for Cloud**, and **Trivy/ Checkov** in pipelines. - **Secrets management**: Key Vault, Managed Identities (system-assigned/user-assigned), and secret rotation policies. - **Compliance automation**: Azure Policy for CIS benchmarks, PCI-DSS, SOC2; Blueprints for regulated workloads. - **Zero Trust implementation**: Network segmentation, Private Endpoints, and Just-In-Time (JIT) access controls. #### **Hands-On Programming & Scripting** - **Scripting fluency**: **PowerShell** and **Bash** for Azure CLI automation; Python/Bash for custom tooling. - **API integration**: REST APIs via **Azure SDKs** (Python, .NET, JavaScript) and **az cli** scripting. - **Live coding assessment**: Ability to whiteboard or live-demo Azure resource provisioning, query Log Analytics, or troubleshoot AKS clusters during interviews. ### Experience Requirements - **10+ years** in cloud architecture, deployment, and operations; **5+ years hands-on Azure** with enterprise-scale deployments. - Proven track record **training/mentoring junior engineers** to production-readiness in cloud environments. - Experience screening technical talent across **Azure, AWS, GCP** at varying seniority levels. ### What You’ll Deliver - **Candidate Scorecards**: Detailed breakdowns of technical depth, architecture judgment, teaching ability, and deployment experience. - **Training Potential Assessment**: Can this candidate effectively onboard and upskill junior team members? - **Risk Flags**: Gaps in security posture, scalability thinking, or real-world deployment experience. - **Recommendation**: Hire, Stretch, or No Hire—with specific rationale tied to business needs. ### Location & Format - **Remote**, with flexible hours to accommodate global candidate pools. - High-volume screening (5–10 candidates/week), with ad-hoc deep-dive interviews as needed. **Apply if you live and breathe Azure, can spot a poser in 15 minutes, and love turning raw talent into production-ready cloud engineers.**
