Job Description
I’m looking to hire an experienced Klaviyo Specialist to fully build, structure, segment, and test my email marketing system for my Shopify brand, Kill Cycle. This includes creating advanced automation flows, organizing lists and segments, setting up deliverability authentication, and ensuring everything triggers correctly.
This is NOT a basic template setup.
You must understand lifecycle marketing, multi-step flows, behavioral triggers, and proper segment exclusion logic to avoid duplicate or conflicting emails.
Project Scope & Deliverables
1. Build & Configure All Email Automations
You will create, implement, and test the following core flows:
- Welcome Flow (Email & SMS)
- Abandoned Cart Flow
- Abandoned Checkout Flow
- Browse Abandonment Flow
- Customer Win-Back Flow
- First Purchase – Subscriber
- First Purchase – Non-Subscriber
- Product Review Request Flow
- Site Abandonment & Re-Engagement Flows
Each flow must include:
- Correct trigger settings
- Proper filters
- Proper exclusion logic (Placed Order, Active in Other Flow, etc.)
- Behavior-based time delays
- Device-tested email templates (I will provide content/design later)
2. Create Segmentation & Customer Data Architecture
You will organize and build dynamic segments for:
- First-time customers
- Subscribers Payment Failed
- Subscriber Voluntary Cancellation
- Subscription Terminated
- Repeat customers
- VIP / top purchasers
- Subscribers vs Non-Subscribers
- Recent purchasers
- High-intent browsers
- Inactive customers (30/60/90 days)
- Cart abandoners
- Browse abandoners
Each flow should:
- Only target the correct segment
- Properly exclude customers who shouldn’t receive it
- Avoid overlapping triggers
3. Technical Setup & Integration
- Integrate Klaviyo with Shopify
- Connect any relevant Shopify apps (reviews, popups, subscription tools, etc.)
- Confirm all Shopify → Klaviyo events are tracking properly
- Ensure UTM parameters & revenue attribution are set correctly
Set up a naming convention system for:
- Flows
- Lists
- Segments
- Tags
Deliverability Setup (Required)
Confirm branded sending domain is active
Validate:
- DKIM
- SPF
- DMARC
- Ensure domain authentication is fully verified inside Klaviyo
- Confirm proper sender email setup
4. Full Testing & Quality Assurance
You will test every flow end-to-end, including:
- Trigger firing
- Behavioral timing
- Exclusion logic
- Device rendering (desktop & mobile)
- Inbox placement & spam score
- Link tracking & conversion tracking
- No customer should ever receive:
- Duplicate emails
- Conflicting emails
- Flows after they already purchased
- Abandon sequences after buying
I expect screenshots or short Loom videos showing that each flow is functioning properly.
5. Documentation & Handoff
You will deliver a simple but complete documentation file that includes:
- Final Flow map overview
- Final Segment logic & definitions
- Final Naming conventions
- Final Trigger logic for each flow
- Final Exclusion rules used
- Instructions for editing flows in the future
Final 30–60 min Loom walkthrough explaining the setup
Required Qualifications
Proven experience building Klaviyo flows for Shopify brands
Strong understanding of lifecycle marketing & email automation logic
Experience with advanced segmentation & dynamic filters
Ability to troubleshoot triggers, events, and deliverability issues
Clear communication & ability to work independently
Must understand how to test flows properly
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high-personality brands (humor, edgy, etc.)
Experience with SMS setup in Klaviyo
Knowledge of churn reduction, LTV optimization, and retention strategy
Ability to recommend improvements beyond the initial brief
Timeline
Full build-out expected within 1–2 weeks
